Billy Mag Fhloinn

Billy Mag Fhloinnis a lecturer in Irish Studies in Dingle, Ireland. He has a BA in archaeology,and a PhD in folklore from University College Dublin. Research interests include ritual, folk religion, and calendar customs, and he draws upon this academic work in his creative endeavours.He is the founder and director ofPagan Rave, a multidisciplinary performance project exploring and re-imagining the traditional festivals of Ireland and Europe. He plays traditional music, and builds and plays replica prehistoric instruments, as well as inventing new ways of making music. He is also an accredited legal celebrant, facilitating weddings, funerals and other contemporary rituals.
